Michael B. Bragg
Interim Dean
Michael B. Bragg was named Interim Dean in August 2012. For the previous six years, he served as Executive Associate Dean for Academic and Faculty Affairs, overseeing all faculty issues in the college, including hiring and retention, promotion and tenure, awards,as well as resource planning.

An Illinois alumnus, he earned his BS and MS degrees in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He received his PhD in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from Ohio State University where he initially served as an assistant, and later, associate professor in the department. In 1990, he returned to his alma mater as a faculty member and later head of the Department of Aerospace engineering.

 

Bruce A. Vojak
Associate Dean for Administration
As Associate Dean for Administration, Bruce A. Vojak is responsible for the key support service functions in the college, including human resources, budget planning, facilities, information services, and safety.

Prior to joining the university in 1999 he was Director of Advanced Technology for one of Motorola’s business units. Previously, he held various technical and business management positions at Amoco Corporation, including a business development manager role involving acquisitions, divestments, and strategic planning. At the beginning of his career he was a staff research engineer at MIT Lincoln Laboratory.

In addition to his administrative responsibilities, he currently teaches and conducts research in strategic technology management. He holds BS, MS, and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and an MBA from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

 

Molly M. Tracy
Associate Dean for Advancement
Molly Tracy is an Associate Dean in the College of Engineering at Illinois. Overseeing college-wide advancement activities, Molly is responsible for managing stakeholder relationships, for individual, foundation and corporate fundraising activities, and for alumni relations for the over 75,000 Engineering at Illinois alumni across the globe.

Prior to her Associate Dean role, she supported the College of Engineering for two years as associate director of the Information Trust Institute at Illinois, and for 11 years as Assistant to the Department Head of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE). Molly also previously served as Associate Dean for the College of Education at the University of Illinois. She holds BS and MBA degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

 

Victoria L. Coverstone
Associate Dean for Graduate and Professional Programs
The Office of Engineering Graduate and Professional Programs oversees graduate education programs in the college, including online courses and extramural programs, diversity programs for graduate students, professional degree programs, and other issues affecting graduate students.

An Illinois alumna, Victoria Coverstone earned her BS, MS, and PhD degrees in aeronautical and astronautical engineering. She joined the Department of Aerospace Engineering faculty in 1992, where she is currently a professor and associate department head. She is also the director of the Computational Astrodynamic Research Lab at Illinois. Her research activities are dynamics, control, and design of aerospace systems. Specific applications are the control of spacecraft and the design of optimal spacecraft trajectories. She has established a close working relationship with NASA researchers and continues to work on space mission planning software.

 

Martin D. F. Wong
Acting Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
As the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Martin D. F. Wong, is responsible for all phases of faculty affairs including promotion and tenure, sabbaticals, leaves of absence, named appointments, hiring and retention, and special projects in support of the college.

Wong joined the faculty in August 2002 and was recently named the Edward C. Jordan Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. In addition to his ECE faculty appointment, he is also a research professor at the Coordinated Science Laboratory and an affiliate of the Department of Computer Science. He is an expert in the field of VLSI CAD (in particular the area of physical design), with an impressive record as a researcher and scholar. He has had 385 papers published in prominent journals and conferences, as well as many best paper awards and nominations. An Illinois alumnus with a PhD in computer science, Wong has graduated 42 PhD students, many of whom now hold leadership positions in industry or academic positions. He is an IEEE Fellow, and has provided leadership to IEEE, ACM, and many other organizations.

 

 

Jennifer T. Bernhard
Associate Dean for Research
Jennifer T. BernhardThe Office of the Associate Dean for Research is responsible for proactively increasing the visibility and broadening of research collaborations with state, federal, and international agencies as well as industry.

After graduating with BS degree in electrical engineering from Cornell University, Bernhard earned her MS and PhD in electrical engineering from Duke University. She joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering faculty in 1999. She is also a research professor at the Coordinated Science Laboratory and an affiliate faculty member at the Information Trust Institute. An expert in electromagnetics and antennas, Bernhard’s research addresses applications-oriented electromagnetic problems with an emphasis on theoretical analysis and experimental investigation.

 

Umberto Ravaioli
Interim Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs
Umberto RavaioliThe Office of Engineering Undergraduate Programs oversees all undergraduate education programs and services in the college, including recruiting, advising, career services, diversity programs for undergraduate students, scholarships, international experiences, accreditation, undergraduate research, and other issues affecting undergraduate students.

Before joining the Illinois faculty in 1986, Ravaioli received both a Laurea in electronics engineering and a Laurea in physics from the University of Bologna, and a PhD in electrical engineering from Arizona State University. A professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, he also holds research appointments at the Beckman Institute and the Coordinated Science Laboratory. He joined the Office of Undergraduate Programs in 2005, where he has led the James Scholar program and supervised academic advising, petitions, and degree certification. In 2011, he received the Campus Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Advising.
