The College of Engineering sponsors a wide range of programs to reach out to young people to encourage them to consider STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) majors and careers. By sponsoring outreach programs, you assist in increasing awareness of your company to young people and promoting interest in STEM. Your company will benefit as more students develop an interest in engineering and you create and build a pipeline of talent.
Depending on the focus areas of your company's products and services, one or more of the following programs may be a good fit for your company:
- ASM Materials Camp is a program for high school teachers in math, science, and technology to engage their students through simple, low-cost lab experiments
- ECE Explorations is a seminar for Electrical and Computer Engineering sophomores
- Engineering Advocates is a program in which College of Engineering students actively interact with elementary, middle, and high school students through hands-on activities
- GAMES is an annual week-long camp for middle school girls that enables them to explore engineering and science fields through demonstrations, presentations, hands-on activities, and interaction with women in technical fields
- First LEGO League Robotics Competition and Illinois Lego Regional Tournament for grade school students
- STEM provides an overview of the College of Engineering outreach activities
- Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE) Summer Camps and Programs for high school students with an interest in STEM
- EnLIST is a partnership aimed at building the capacity of a new generation of science teacher leaders
- NanoCEMMS offers several nanotechnology education programs for middle and high school students, underrepresented students, college students, and teachers
