Engineering at Illinois sustains excellence by continually evolving, anticipating trends in education and research, recognizing relevant discovery and innovation, building capacity in new areas, and responding to the changing needs of students, faculty and society.
The comprehensive Graduate College Handbook contains policies and requirements set forth by the Graduate College at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Individual graduate programs or departments may have additional policies.
Academic resources on campus are among the finest in the world. The University Library has one of the largest public university collections, and the Grainger Engineering Library Information Center is the largest U.S. engineering library. The Grainger Library contains 260,000 volumes of journals, books, reports, standards, theses, conference proceedings, and other materials. Holdings include more than 1,000 ongoing journal subscriptions and a large number of continually received conference and series publications.
In addition to the advising and mentoring support provided by the departments, the Graduate College offers advising & mentoring resources in several areas to assist you with your academic and professional development needs.
The Dean's Engineering Graduate Student Advisory Committee advises the College of Engineering on topics that are important to graduate education and that impact the graduate student experience on campus. The EGSAC meets regularly with the Dean of Engineering to bring forward ideas and concerns facing engineering graduate students.
The Graduate College Career Services Office is dedicated to providing career planning resources and job search support to graduate students and postdocs pursuing faculty positions as well as careers in non-profits, business and government.
This is a full-service office offering resources and information about full-time positions, on-campus recruiting and much more, including career counseling, workshops and seminars, resume and cover letter reviews, mock interviews, career fairs, company recruiting events, on-campus Interviews, and assistance with co-ops and semester internships. Students registered with Engineering Career Services also receive access to Symplicity, the online job system, which includes job postings, company information, and interview scheduling.
