Technology pioneer and business leader; Early employee and innovator at Oracle Corporation; Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Informatica Corporation, an enterprise software category leader.

Sohaib Abbasi has been Chief Executive Officer of Informatica Corporation since July 2004 and chairman since March 2005.

Under his leadership, Informatica is now the largest independent leader in the data integration software category. Fostering a culture of continuous innovation, Abbasi has built on Informatica’s success in data integration and led Informatica into new software market categories. Informatica is now acknowledged as a leader in multiple technology categories, including cloud computing data integration, data quality, information lifecycle management, and master data management software. Under Abbasi’s leadership, Informatica gained significant contributions from international regions through global expansion of field operations and partnerships.

Prior to joining Informatica, Abbasi worked at Oracle Corporation for 20 years, most recently as a member of Oracle's executive committee and as Senior Vice President, leading two major divisions, Oracle Tools and Oracle Education. In 1982, he joined Oracle, an early stage startup venture with thirty employees, and played an instrumental role in growing the business from $4 million to more than $10 billion in annual revenues. Abbasi envisioned and launched the Oracle Tools business, which he grew from zero to nearly $4 billion in cumulative product license revenues.

Abbasi was named Chairman of the Year as part of the 2010 annual American Business Awards in recognition of his leadership achievements and contributions.

As a strong supporter of education, Abbasi funded an Endowed Professorship and Fellowship in Computer Science at the University of Illinois. Along with his wife, Sara, he funded the Islamic Studies Program at Stanford University with the aim of fostering a better understanding of Islam and Muslims. Abbasi is a director of the University of Illinois Foundation.
