The following is a brief outline of available scholarships and fellowships.

Note: Unless mentioned otherwise, all college financial support is for undergraduate engineering students including Chemical and Agricultural Engineering. Detailed information is provided through the links below.

Scholarship Opportunity for "Pre-Enrolled, Newly-Admitted Freshmen" in Engineering

Scholarships/Fellowships for Current Enrolled Students

MEP International Study Scholarships (*)
  • $500 - Summer Programs
  • $1000 - Semester/AY Programs
  • No application
Morrill Engineering Program Students accepted to a study abroad program are considered for this scholarship
Wert Scholarship (*)
  • Amount dependent on number of participants
  • No application, IPENG will notify recipients
Engineering students participating in an IPENG program to Argentina, Brazil, or Chile; Engineering freshmen participating in any UIUC program; summer Uruguay program.
William R. Miller & Martha L. Behr-Miller Scholarship (*)
  • $500- $2500 award
  • Mechanical Engineering students only
  • 3.0 gpa required
  • Must spend a semester or academic year in a specified country (see list)
  • No application, IPENG will notify recipients
Mechanical and Theoretic and Applied Mechanics Engineering students only studying for a semester or academic year in: Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Austria, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, China, S. Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, or Japan
IPENG Travel Fellowship
  • awarded to qualified engineering students involved in a College of Engineering approved work experience or an academic/study experience abroad
  • helps students with travel costs - more specifically airfare
All undergraduate engineering students participating in an IPENG, engineering department approved, or SAO (Study Abroad Office) sponsored program, who meet the requirements listed below, are eligible to apply for the fellowship including:
  • Chemical Engineering (LAS)
  • Agricultural Engineering (ACES)
  • Students participating in 5-year combined engineering program. Please note: Student must be enrolled in engineering at time of study abroad.
Illinois for Illinois (I4I) Scholarship
  • Approx. $ 250,000 available annually!
  • Almost 150 awards each semester, from $500-$5000
  • Application required
  • Four Categories: General Merit, Need-Based, Non-traditional Destination, or Under- represented
All UIUC students
Gilman Study Abroad Scholarship All UIUC students
Other Other scholarships are available for study abroad through the campus study abroad office. Students should check the Study Abroad Website for available scholarships. All UIUC students meeting specific scholarship requirements.

(*) -- Students holding citizenship in program destination are not eligible.
