Funding Support

Department Support

Graduate students are supported with departmental fellowships, teaching assistantships and research assistantships. Some research assistantships are also offered by research laboratories such as the Coordinated Science Laboratory, Frederick Seitz Materials Research Laboratory, Micro and Nanotechnology Laboratory, National Center for Supercomputing Applications and other laboratories in the campus community.

Other Opportunities

Several companies in the Research Park at the University of Illinois offer graduate research assistantships or opportunities to collaborate on research. Home to a more than companies, the Research Park brings corporations closer to university research, encourages collaborations and encourages economic development.

Fellowships

In addition, we encourage all students in the College of Engineering who are considering graduate school to apply for fellowship opportunities. Historically, exceptional University of Illinois engineering students with a GPA of B+ or higher do very well in these competitions.
