EWB Students Make a Difference 

Last summer, a group of students from Engineers Without Borders at Illinois (EWB) worked to bring running water to a Nigerian village through an EPA-funded project. "It's More Than a Well," a 30-minute documentary that chronicled the experiences the six EWB students in the village of Adu Achi, Nigeria, debuted on the Big Ten Network. Physics Major Trains to be "Friction-Free"

Jonathan Kuck, a 19-year old physics major, is not the average student. He is not even the average student athlete. In his free time--normally one to two hours before class, or one to three hours in the afternoon or evening--Kuck diligently trains body and mind, hoping to earn a spot on the U.S. speedskating team for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada. 

Architecture Series Inspires Lego Siebel Center

Like the Guggenheim and Fallingwater, the Thomas M. Siebel Center for Computer Science is captured in Legos. Brett Daniel's model is built with a toy marketed in the early 1950s--just as ORDVAC, the fastest computer of its time was completed on the University of Illinois campus. 

2009 Harvey Jordan Award Acceptance Speech 

The Harvey Jordan Award is given annually to the top graduating senior in the College of Engineering--the equivalent to a valedictorian for the senior class. This year's speech by Luke Edelman was posted upon request of several individuals who attended the event.
