Engineering at Illinois is committed to helping students succeed. You will have an advisor to guide you on course selections and career options. You and your advisor will meet to review your goals and course choices at least once per semester. In addition to advisors, you will have access to several programs developed to help you through the various stages of your academic career.
Settle in with Engineering 100, an orientation program set up for all incoming freshmen to the College of Engineering. Current engineering students serve as instructors. Classes include an overview of Engineering at Illinois along with strategies, resources and contacts to help new students succeed.
This large, comprehensive learning center, located on the 4th floor of Grainger Engineering Library, was created specifically to provide study and discussion spaces, computer labs, small group tutoring, and other educational resources to engineering students.
Engineering is a global profession, and students are encouraged to include an international experience—study, work or service—in their education plans.

This is a full-service office offering resources and information about co-ops, internships, full-time positions, on-campus recruiting and much more.
The Technology Entrepreneur Center (TEC) offers courses and activities for engineering and technology students interested in technology commercialization and entrepreneurship. The TEC manages the annual Lemelson-Illinois Student Prize, a competition that awards $30,000 for outstanding innovation and invention, the Cozad New Venture Competition, where interdisciplinary student teams compete for start-up funds, and many other student activities.
