TAM 598 IJO is geared towards graduate students with a strong background in mechanics and covers more advanced topics in:
- Modeling of biological materials: mineralized tissues (bone, dentin, enamel, nacre), soft tissues (muscle, tendon, ligament, cartilage, brain, skin, arteries and veins), natural fibers (spider silk, cotton, wool), woods (balsa, bamboo, cork), plants and other.
- Structureproperty relations for biological materials.
- Micromechanics models, theories of growth, regeneration, and remodeling. Biomimetic and bioinspired materials.
Undergraduate degree and undergraduate level mechanics of materials course (continuum mechanics).
