Dr. Pask joined the Berkeley faculty in 1948 after five years with Westinghouse Electric Corp. In addition to his work as educator and researcher, he served as vice president, American Ceramic Society; president, Ceramic Educational Council; member, Mineral Resources Committee, National Association of State Universities and Land Grant Colleges; member, special advisory committee, U.S. Department of Defense; and member, Materials Advisory Board, National Academy of Sciences. An expert in the field of phase equilibria and microstructure-property relations, Dr. Pask is the author of over 160 papers and four books. He is the recipient of the 1967 John Jeppson Medal, American Ceramic Society; 1968 John F. Bergerson Memorial Service Award, University of Washington (where he received his MS in 1935); the 1977 Ross Coffin Purdy Award, American Ceramic Society; the 1979 Berkeley Citation. He is a fellow and honorary life member of the American Ceramic Society, a fellow of the Mineralogical Society of American and the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and a member of the National Academy of Engineering.
