Robert Barnett has provided able leadership in a diverse array of telecommunications organizations. He has served in a number of positions involving complex decisions and strategies in engineering planning and business. In 1981 he was named director of consulting services for AT&T International and in 1982 he became president of American Bell. In 1984 he moved to Wisconsin Bell, where he became president and chief executive officer in 1985. After serving as president and chief executive officer of the Ameritech Enterprise Group, he became president of Ameritech Bell Group, where he is responsible for the Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Ohio Bell Systems.
