Giving

All gifts make a difference in the lives of Engineering students today and tomorrow.

Gifts from alumni, corporate partners, and friends around the world help ensure that the College of Engineering remains a top-ranked college, a world leader in education for the next-generation of engineers, and a powerhouse for research, scholarship, and innovation to solve global problems, address society’s needs, and advance civilization.

The College of Engineering has many funds that can accommodate a variety of giving interests and goals (see Make a Gift Now for a list), including a new scholarship endowment initiative that will make a difference in the lives of engineering students today and tomorrow.

Each year, many promising students decline admission because they cannot find the money to attend. Each year’s graduating class leaves Illinois with more debt than graduates of the year before.

Making a top engineering education more accessible and affordable for more excellent students is a priority of Engineering at Illinois and Access Illinois. In engineering, our goals for the undergraduate student population are based on three principles: achievement, diversity, and access. We use scholarship funds to:

  • Recruit and retain the brightest, most qualified students to maintain our tradition of academic excellence.
  • Attract the most promising students from all segments of the population, including groups that are traditionally underrepresented in engineering.
  • Make an Illinois engineering education accessible to all qualified students, regardless of their family’s financial status.

“No matter how big or small, each gift for engineering scholarships is an investment in our next generation of inventors, innovators, and leaders. Considering the vast contributions of our alumni, I would say that, indeed, each scholarship gift is an investment in the future of this planet.” Ilesanmi Adesida, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Provost

Matching Gifts - An Easy Way to Multiply Your Donation

There are over 7,500 matching gift companies that will match employees' contributions to the University of Illinois and its academic programs. Search for participating companies or contact your Human Resources Department to find out if your company matches gifts.

You receive recognition for the entire gift, both your contribution and the company match. Eligible donors for a corporate matching gift may include retired employees, spouses of employees, or widows and widowers of former employees depending on the corporation's giving policy.

Just request and complete the matching gift form from your firm's human resources office. Mail it to the University of Illinois Foundation and they'll do the rest. If your employer doesn't currently offer this, we can provide you with information you need to establish a matching gift program at your company.
