Undergraduate programs at the College of Engineering at Illinois are consistently ranked among the top five nationally. At Illinois, we are devoted to the creation of new knowledge through research, and to the development of the next generation of engineering leaders through education.
Illinois Engineering First-Year Experience (IEFX) is a college-wide program that aims to enhance first-year students’ collegiate experience. Unique to other first-year programs, IEFX focuses on students’ interests and aspirations and interweaves them throughout their engineering education. This includes customized project-based courses, increasing faculty and corporate involvement with first-year students, academic and leadership development workshops, events, and more. The program builds a foundation on which students can create an undergraduate life that is rich in the joys of engineering, learning, and community.
An emphasis on engineering science and experiential learning provides for an exceptional technical education that prepares students to excel in many different professional careers. Our students are encouraged to apply skills learned inside the classroom to projects and activities outside the classroom.
